Eleven years across UNICEF and UNHCR, in Athens, Geneva, New York and field operations. At UNICEF Greece he led the Programme Support Unit and ran the climate, sustainability, environmental justice and emergency preparedness portfolio, overseeing partnerships and grants across a country programme of more than 88 million euro. He coordinated a multi-country climate initiative across five Central Asian countries, led the Climate Landscape Analysis for Children in Greece, and co-chaired the national inter-agency working group on the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse. He holds an MSc in Disaster and Crisis Management and completed the Leading Sustainable Corporations programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. He also founded Impact Seed, a sustainability and social impact advisory practice.

The people behind it
After six years at PwC in London — where George led the firm's Aerospace & Defence startup accelerator and worked with many of its largest clients on carbon footprint management — he moved into work that pulled both threads together: helping global businesses cut emissions using startup and scale-up technologies.
He now pours the same energy into Synerra, back home in Greece, in the belief that Greece has everything it needs to lead on climate in Europe.
A retired amateur triathlete, George plays just about every sport imaginable, and is happiest outdoors with a pair of running shoes, a tennis racquet or a surfboard within reach.
